Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.0 Installation
Part 1 — Pre-requisites, Stage Area Download and Build Stage

1. Pre-requisites
The following checks and configuration steps must be performed on both nodes — the Application (APPS) tier node and the Database (DB) tier node — before beginning the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.0 installation.
1.1 Swap Space
It is recommended that the swap space on the system be 16 GB or more. To determine the size of the configured swap space, run the following command:
grep SwapTotal /proc/meminfo1.2 Verifying Host Names
Check the contents of /etc/hosts on both nodes:
cat /etc/hosts| IP Address | Fully Qualified Domain Name | Short Hostname |

1.3 Modify ulimit Settings in limits.conf
Check and update /etc/security/limits.conf with the following values:
cat /etc/security/limits.conf
* hard nofile 65536
* soft nofile 4096
* hard nproc 16384
* soft nproc 2047
* hard stack 16384
* soft stack 102401.4 Create Required Link to Motif Library
(Applicable to Oracle Linux 7 and 8, RHEL 7 and 8)
Run the following command as root to create a required link to the Motif library for Oracle Forms and Reports:
# cd /usr/lib
# ln -s libXm.so.4.0.4 libXm.so.21.5 Oracle E-Business Suite Preinstallation RPM
(Available for Oracle Linux 7 and 8)
cd /etc/yum.repos.d
wget https://yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol7.repo
yum update
yum install oracle-ebs-server-R12-preinstall1.6 Rename the 12c Examples Zip File
The 12c examples zip file must be renamed as shown below:

Steps to download the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.0 installation files from the Oracle E-Delivery Portal:
- Navigate to the “Oracle Software Delivery Cloud” (formerly known as the E-Delivery site): http://edelivery.oracle.com/
- Click the “Sign In” button.
- Use your My Oracle Support account username/password (the same account used to create a new SR).
- Once logged in, accept the terms and conditions for “Export Restriction”.
- On the next screen, search using the following parameter: enter EBS and click Search.
- Click the link “DLP: Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.X” — your selection will be added to the Cart.
- Click “Selected Software” above, or the Cart icon, to display all EBS components to download.
Once downloaded, the staged installation files in the stage directory should appear as follows:

After creating the stage area directory, it is required to manually unzip only the “Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.0 Rapid Install Start Here” package (Patch 22066363). Do not manually unzip the other staged files. After unzipping the startCD, run the buildStage.sh script to unzip the rest of the installation software.

3.1 Unzip the Rapid Install Start Here Patch
